A Meal at Las Iguanas

A visit to Las Iguanas full of flavour, atmosphere and cake!

Our guest blogger, Sian Victoria, recently visited the luxurious Santai Spa here in the Resort. Read all about her experience below…

After a day of pampering at Santai Spa, myself and the boyfriend went to Las Iguanas located in the Resort for some amazing South American food. Upon entering we were shown to our table and told about their 2 for 1 offer on cocktails, which is always a good thing to hear! The atmosphere was great, everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and one large table were celebrating a birthday. The décor was lovely too, with low hanging lights, wooden tables and dreamy tiled print floor and walls. We were sitting next to the floor to ceiling window, so we had a great view of the lake outside the resort which was a nice touch.

For drinks I had an Apple Mojo-less with muddled mint, lime, sugar & apple juice. And my partner had a Passion Fruit & Orange Cooler with shaken passion fruit, lemon & orange juice. They were both perfectly, refreshing and fruity.

For starters we shared a bowl of nachos, with corn tortilla chips, melted cheese, topped with pico de gallo, jalapeños, salsa, soured cream & guacamole. It was so tasty we demolished the bowl instantly. We have since tried to recreate the nachos at home and sadly it just wasn’t as good as at Las Iguanas.

Our mains were fantastic. I had the Smoked chipotle chicken burrito, which was a tortilla stuffed with chipotle rice, refried beans, crunchy slaw & cheese. This was garnished with salad, soured cream & garlicky chipotle sauce on the side. The boyfriend had chicken breast strip fajitas with a special mix of spices, onions & peppers which were delivered to the table sizzling hot. The meal came with soft wheat tortillas so you could make the fajitas yourself along with a separate plate of mini bowls of guacamole, soured cream, jalapenos and tomato salsa for added flavour. Both meals were delicious and full of taste.

We visited Las Iguanas on a Saturday evening and the place was buzzing, yet the fresh meals were leaving the kitchen promptly and the staff were very helpful and friendly, explaining the different offers and meal options.

Now finally, onto what should be the most important meal of the day… pudding!.  I had the Creamy Caramel Cake and it was out of this world. I’m a huge dessert fan, and this got beyond a 10/10 from me. The cake has layers of soaked sponge & caramelised cream, drizzled with dulce de leche and is topped with more caramelised cream & blueberries. It was mouth-wateringly good!

We both thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Las Iguanas Birmingham, the atmosphere, setting, service and food were all perfect and I shall definitely be returning in the near future.
